Trend: The Striped Maxi

May 15, 2012 No Comments by jet

As summer weather warms our weeks, we’re still in love with the maxi – and one specific dress seems to be popping up:

We’ve seen this striped maxi in gray, red, black and blue. We saw it hitting the shelves a few months ago, and it was even featured in our post about wearing stripes; however, it isn’t too late to pick up this dress which can be customized to make it stand out.

Jewelry and accessories, as always, will give it a unique feel. Or, try a belt or a scarf to give it a new flair. Just remember that with such a prominent pattern, you want to avoid anything too “in your face” or the eye will not know where to look!

In gray at Whimsy in Park City { $49 }
In red at Q Clothing in Salt Lake { $54 }

As more boutiques pick the dress up this specific dress, you may want to consider some other great striped options, especially if this specific cut doesn’t work for your body type (as it will emphasize those hips).

Remember to look at the size of the stripes and the direction. Many stray away from vertical stripes; however, the width and space between the stripes can help shape your body. If you’re still to nervous, throw a cardigan on, as it will draw attention toward your face.

So take a chance this season with a striped maxi and let us know what you think!
